Safety Specialist

A Safety Specialist position is available at Garney. The Safety Specialist supports the implementation and execution of jobsite safety programs to ensure a safe work environment. This role promotes safety culture through training, inspections, hazard identification, and employee engagement while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. The position serves as a field safety resource responsible for education, guidance, and proactive incident prevention.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Perform jobsite safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance
• Track and follow up on corrective actions to support incident prevention
• Assist in developing safe work plans, task hazard analyses, and site-specific procedures
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety programs
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training to field teams
• Serve as a safety resource for employees and project leadership
• Promote a strong safety culture through engagement and accountability
• Maintain safety documentation, reporting, and records

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety - Preferred
• 2+ years of construction experience and 1+ year in a safety role (3+ years preferred)
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and construction safety practices
• Strong communication, organization, and training skills
• Ability to identify risks, make decisions, and take proactive action
• OSHA 30, 500, EM385, CHST, or equivalent; CPR/First Aid Trainer; OSHA 510 (within 6 months) - Required
• OSHA 500, CHST, or other relevant safety certifications - Preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish - Preferred
