    JOB SUMMARY

    The Safety Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all safety, workers'' compensation, and environmental programs within a food manufacturing facility. This position promotes a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, USDA/FSIS, and company requirements while reducing workplace injuries, managing claims, and minimizing environmental risks. The Safety Supervisor partners closely with operations, maintenance, HR, and leadership teams to implement proactive safety initiatives, conduct training, investigate incidents, manage workers'' compensation cases, and ensure environmental compliance. This role requires a hands-on presence on the production floor to identify hazards, drive corrective actions, and support continuous improvement efforts that protect employees, property, and the environment.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead and administer the facility''s safety, health, and environmental programs.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and food manufacturing safety standards.
    • Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
    • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
    • Manage the workers'' compensation program, including injury reporting, claims management, return-to-work processes, and coordination with medical providers and insurance carriers.
    • Track and analyze injury trends, safety metrics, and corrective actions to reduce incidents and claims costs.
    • Oversee environmental compliance activities, including waste management, chemical handling, stormwater, air emissions, spill prevention, and required reporting.
    • Maintain safety, workers'' compensation, and environmental records to support audits and regulatory inspections.
    • Collaborate with plant leadership to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and risk reduction.
    • Lead emergency preparedness and response activities, including drills and crisis management planning.
    • Serve as the primary resource for safety, workers'' compensation, and environmental matters within the facility.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    Candidate should possess the following in order to provide the technical knowledge needed for the PSM Specialist role:

    • 1-5 years' experience in a PSM or other EH&S related role
    • Basic understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations and requirements needed for compliance
    • Ability to provide in-field support on a daily basis
    • Ability to work flexible hours to support site initiatives and needs

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    While this position is primarily based in an office setting, occasional travel may be required. While at the facility, employee will be subject to extreme temperatures, humid/wet environments and other hazards common to a food manufacturing facility
