Job Title: Safety Technician

Job Description

The Safety Technician plays a key technical role in implementing, sustaining, and continuously improving safety programs across commercial construction sites, including hotel projects and site refurbishments or upgrades. This position focuses on site safety management, risk assessment, investigations, and compliance with safety regulations, while partnering closely with leadership, safety services teams, and third-party vendors to maintain a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain comprehensive safety programs across field construction sites, including hotels and refurbishment or upgrade projects.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for site safety and safety management, providing guidance on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop appropriate safety plans and mitigation strategies.
  • Perform investigations and technical evaluations following incidents, near misses, or identified safety concerns to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Manage and coordinate safety activities with general contractors and third-party vendors to ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols.
  • Partner with safety services team members to communicate safety concerns, issues, and recommendations clearly and effectively to leadership and project teams.
  • Promote and reinforce safety procedures and safety training across construction sites to drive a culture of health, safety, and compliance.
  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to verify compliance with OSHA regulations, internal policies, and construction safety management requirements.
  • Monitor site activities and construction operations to ensure that safety plans are followed and that appropriate controls are in place.
  • Utilize Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel to prepare reports, track safety metrics, document audits, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong OSHA knowledge and ensure that OSHA safety standards, including construction-specific requirements, are integrated into daily operations.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management skills by organizing tasks, prioritizing safety issues, and adjusting schedules as needed to address changing site conditions.
  • Adapt to shifting project priorities during the workday while maintaining focus on safety compliance and risk reduction.
  • Collaborate with leadership to recommend improvements to safety programs, procedures, and training based on field observations and audit results.
  • Support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives by aligning site practices with broader organizational compliance and audit requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in site construction safety management or a closely related field.
  • Strong experience in commercial construction and construction safety management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing third-party vendors and general contractors in a construction environment.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and develop effective safety plans for construction sites.
  • Hands-on experience performing safety investigations and technical evaluations related to incidents and hazards.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and OSHA safety requirements, particularly as they apply to construction safety.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel, for communication, reporting, and analysis.
  • Excellent ability to communicate safety concerns, procedures, and best practices effectively with leadership and team members.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities during the workday.
  • Ability to conduct safety audits and ensure compliance with safety procedures, health and safety standards, and EHS requirements.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, work in various weather conditions, and perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and climbing.
  • A 4-year Bachelor"s Degree is required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification related to construction safety.
  • OSHA 500 certification or equivalent advanced OSHA training.
  • Experience in health and safety program implementation and safety training delivery.
  • Background in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and audit processes.
  • Strong understanding of construction safety procedures and safety audit methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and maintain safety procedures tailored to construction sites and refurbishment projects.
  • Experience working with safety services teams or similar safety support functions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement in construction environments.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in active commercial construction environments, including hotel construction sites and refurbishment or upgrade projects. The Safety Technician spends significant time on-site, standing and walking for extended periods, observing work activities, and interacting with construction teams, general contractors, and third-party vendors. The position requires working in various weather conditions and navigating typical construction site terrain, including climbing, lifting, and carrying equipment as needed to perform inspections and audits. The work involves regular use of Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel for documentation, reporting, and communication. The environment emphasizes a strong safety culture, adherence to OSHA and EHS standards, and close collaboration with leadership and safety services team members to maintain a safe, compliant, and professional workplace.

This is a Contract position based out of Cape Coral, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $66.00/hr.
