Description

Summary:

  • Location: Durham, NC
  • Work Mode: Local
  • Duration: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: 5X8 M-F, 8AM-4:30PM

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, segregate, and manage hazardous chemical wastes generated throughout the company, including clinics and research laboratories.
  • Manage hazardous pharmaceutical wastes, radiological, and universal wastes.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and standards by OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC, RCRA.
  • Communicate with supervisor regarding policies and procedures for assuring compliance.
  • Lift 50 lbs., manipulate 400 lb. drums, and be physically able to wear respiratory protection.
  • Work in various environments, including those with "immediately dangerous to life and health" (IDLH) atmospheres, requiring protective clothing and equipment.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Occupational Safety or Environmental Health and Safety or related field (Highly preferred).
  • Valid Driver's license and ability to operate company-owned vehicle.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in environmental science, EHS, or safety.
  • Self-starter, ambitious, and abides by safety principles.
  • DOT RCRA certified.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to hazardous material management.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and related sciences.
  • Ability to segregate various waste substances for shipping or treatment.
  • Proficiency in utilizing computer technology to access data, maintain records, and generate reports.
  • Functional oral and written communication skills.
