Job Title: Safety Trainer

Job Description

The Safety Trainer delivers OSHA-required safety training for new hires and existing employees in a manufacturing environment while supporting a strong safety culture across multiple facilities. This role maintains accurate training records, updates training content, conducts safety inspections, and supports compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety policies. The Safety Trainer works closely with operations teams and contractors to ensure all personnel receive timely, effective safety training and that documentation remains current and compliant.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver OSHA-required safety training for new hires and existing employees, including topics such as Lockout/Tagout, Forklift Operation, MEWP Operation, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Fall Protection, and other applicable OSHA standards.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ongoing safety and continuous improvement training sessions for employees and contractors, ensuring content is clear, engaging, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and contractor training records, ensuring all training remains current and compliant with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Manually track safety training data in Excel, including scheduling, completion status, and documentation for all contractors and employees.
  • Develop, update, and refine training materials, presentations, quizzes, and hands-on training exercises to reflect current OSHA standards and company policies.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and manage training sessions to ensure all required personnel receive training within specified timeframes.
  • Conduct facility safety inspections and observations, identify hazards and unsafe behaviors, and collaborate with departments to implement corrective actions.
  • Assist with incident investigations by gathering information, identifying root causes, and helping to define corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies by monitoring adherence, providing guidance, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and employee engagement activities that promote a positive, proactive safety culture.
  • Provide safety training and support across multiple facilities, including travel to other locations as needed.
  • Collaborate with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams to support safety programs, safety audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate safety expectations clearly to a diverse workforce, including bilingual communication in English and Spanish where applicable.
  • Ensure all documentation related to training, inspections, and audits is accurate, complete, and organized for regulatory and internal review.
  • Support ramp-up efforts for a large contractor workforce by scaling OSHA training capacity and ensuring all contractors receive required training and documentation.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in safety training within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering OSHA-related safety training, including topics such as Lockout/Tagout, Forklift Operation, MEWP Operation, Hazard Communication, PPE, and Fall Protection.
  • Proficiency in manual safety tracking using Excel, including data entry, tracking completion, and maintaining accurate training records (must be able to perform manual tracking in Excel).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards and their application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in or supporting safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to develop, update, and deliver training materials, presentations, quizzes, and hands-on training exercises.
  • Experience conducting safety inspections, safety observations, and safety audits.
  • Ability to assist in incident investigations and support identification of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (including Excel and other Microsoft Office applications) for documentation, reporting, and presentation preparation.
  • Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish to support a diverse workforce.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple training schedules, documentation requirements, and follow-up actions.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage participants in classroom and shop floor settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • OSHA 501 certification.
  • Experience supporting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives.
  • Experience developing and maintaining safety programs in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with conducting safety audits and implementing corrective actions.
  • Experience working with large contractor populations and coordinating their safety training and documentation.
  • Ability to adapt training approaches to different learning styles and levels of experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in managing documentation and compliance records.
  • Interest in contributing to continuous improvement of safety training and safety culture.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
