We presently have a full-time position for a Training & Safety Coordinator at our Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing plant. The Safety & Training Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining safety programs that support a strong safety culture across the facility. This role actively engages with employees at all levels to promote safe work practices, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and deliver effective training programs focused on accident prevention and operational excellence. This position will report directly to the Health & Safety Manager.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively engage with employees on the floor to promote safety awareness and safe behaviors
  • Implement and sustain safety programs aligned with company safety philosophy and established safety action items
  • Monitor and communicate safety performance metrics to leadership
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, JSA’s, and best practices to prevent workplace injuries
  • Partner with leadership to establish safety goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Conduct job safety analyses (JSA), hazard assessments, and risk evaluations
  • Participate/Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and determine corrective actions
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans based on audits and incident findings
  • Analyze incident trends to identify training gaps and process improvement opportunities
  • Deliver safety and regulatory training, including onboarding for new hires and equipment operation
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Manage environmental and safety programs including hazardous waste, solid waste, universal waste, stormwater, fire protection, and security
  • Maintain accurate documentation of safety activities, training records, and incidents

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in EHS or related field preferred
  • 1–3 years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment required (3–5 years preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Proven ability to analyze problems and implement effective solutions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Effective trainer and presenter with strong engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and build a positive safety culture
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification is a plus

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Regular presence on the production floor with a hands-on approach to safety A MUST
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach as needed
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels
  • Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
