The Safety & Training Lead is a critical on-site leadership role responsible for ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-performing warehouse operation. This position drives safety program execution, employee training, PIT certification, and KPI qualification across all departments.
Working closely with the Safety, Compliance & Loss Prevention Manager and the Director of Operations, the Safety & Training Lead ensures all employees are fully trained, certified, and performance-ready before being released into any operational task. This role serves as the primary authority for safety enforcement, training validation, certification tracking, and compliance documentation, while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Lead and maintain all site-level safety programs in alignment with OSHA and corporate standards
Conduct regular safety audits, facility walkthroughs, and risk assessments; document findings and ensure corrective actions are completed
Investigate incidents and near misses, perform root-cause analysis, and support corrective and preventive action plans
Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and targeted safety initiatives to reinforce safe work behaviors
Monitor PPE usage, housekeeping standards, and equipment condition across the facility
Serve as the certified trainer and evaluator for all Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) equipment, including forklifts, EPJ, reach truck, stock picker, WAV, and related equipment
Train, test, and certify PIT operators and manage badge and certification tracking systems
Ensure no employee operates equipment or performs specialized tasks without full training and KPI validation
Deliver structured operational training for warehouse functions including picking, consolidation, inventory, shipping/receiving, returns, and clerical/system tasks
Observe employee performance and provide coaching to address safety, accuracy, or productivity gaps
Approve or deny progression to full assignment based on demonstrated performance and KPI achievement
Maintain accurate training records, certification logs, qualification checklists, and compliance documentation
Track certification expirations, renewals, and retraining requirements
Support driver training documentation and DOT/safety compliance audits
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on training progress, safety trends, and KPI qualification rates
Partner with supervisors and managers to identify training gaps and improve overall site performance
Experience in warehouse operations, safety leadership, or employee training
Strong knowledge of safety standards, operational workflows, and performance metrics
Experience training and coaching employees in a fast-paced warehouse environment
Ability to analyze KPIs, identify trends, and validate performance readiness
Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and documentation accuracy
Strong communication, leadership, and accountability skills
Ability to enforce standards while maintaining a positive and supportive safety culture
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
High school diploma or GED required; additional education in safety, logistics, or operations is a plus
PIT certification or willingness to become a certified trainer
Experience in e-commerce or distribution center environments
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Familiarity with warehouse systems such as RF-Smart or NetSuite

Warehouse Operations:
Typically Mon-Fri (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or until completion of work)
Five-day / eight-hour shifts, weekends off
Alternate Operations Schedules (as needed):
Sun-Wed or Wed-Sat (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or until completion of work)
Four-day / ten-hour shifts with three consecutive days off
