Sales and Use Tax Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sales & Use Tax Analyst for a contract opportunity to support indirect tax compliance and reporting. This individual will assist with sales and use tax filings, exemption certificate management, tax research, and audit support while ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
Review transactions for taxability and ensure accurate application of sales and use tax.
Maintain exemption certificates and resolve customer tax documentation requests.
Research tax issues and assist with responding to state tax notices and audits.
Reconcile tax accounts and support month-end close activities.
Partner with internal teams to resolve tax-related questions and improve compliance processes.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in sales and use tax or indirect tax compliance.
Experience preparing multi-state sales and use tax returns.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in Excel; experience with ERP systems is preferred.
Experience with tax software such as Vertex, OneSource, Avalara, or similar is a plus.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience

Manufacturing, distribution, retail, or multi-state business experience.
Prior experience supporting tax audits or notice resolution.
