Sales Application Engineer – Cutting Tools (Southeast Territory)


Location: Remote – Based in South Carolina or Northern Georgia

Territory: South Carolina (primary) and Northern Georgia


Position Overview

We are seeking a Sales Application Engineer to drive revenue growth across South Carolina and Northern Georgia. This role blends technical application expertise with frontline sales responsibility, focusing on increasing market share through end-user engagement and strong collaboration with industrial distribution partners.

The company’s product mix is primarily standard solid carbide and indexable tooling, requiring a high-activity, relationship-driven approach to identify opportunities, deliver cost savings, and convert competitive business. This individual will play a key role in creating demand at the end user level while leveraging distribution to execute and scale growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Drive territory revenue growth by identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities
  • Call on end users to evaluate machining processes and recommend cost-saving tooling solutions
  • Work closely with distribution partners to generate demand, support joint sales efforts, and increase product pull-through
  • Conduct tool evaluations, test cuts, and application troubleshooting to demonstrate value and win business
  • Convert competitive tooling by highlighting performance improvements, cost-per-part reductions, and reliability
  • Deliver product training and application support to distributor sales teams
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities through consistent territory activity
  • Collaborate with internal sales and product teams to align strategies and support key accounts
  • Track activity, opportunities, and results through CRM and reporting tools
  • Stay informed on competitive products, pricing strategies, and market trends


Qualifications

  • 3–10+ years of experience in cutting tools, machining, or industrial sales
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes (milling, drilling, and/or turning)
  • Experience with standard cutting tools (solid carbide and/or indexable)
  • Proven ability to drive sales growth and convert competitive accounts
  • Experience working with or through industrial distribution channels
  • Ability to identify cost savings and articulate value to production and manufacturing stakeholders
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-driven and comfortable managing a multi-state territory
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Carolina and Northern Georgia (approximately 50–70%)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a Sales Engineer, Application Engineer, or Territory Manager role
  • Established relationships within the regional manufacturing and distribution landscape
  • Familiarity with a wide range of materials including steels, stainless, aluminum, and cast iron
