Sales Clerk PT

Summary: Provide customer service in a self-service store by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties: Other duties as assigned.

• Provide prompt, courteous customer service.
• Ring up all sales on the POS system properly and accurately, handling money, checks, and other types of payment received for products sold.
• Perform cleaning duties necessary to maintain site cleanliness inside and out, and basic upkeep/cleaning of all equipment on the site.
• Inspect site facilities and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and proper working order.
• Contact maintenance for repairs when needed.
• Receives and verifies vendor deliveries.
• Controls merchandise, cash shortages, and other selling expenses.
• Assists in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift audits.
• Performs all duties with minimal supervision.
• Assists the Manager or Assistant Manager with daily paperwork by being in attendance for verification of figures, cash, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to work with the equipment, tools, and materials listed.
• Ability to work rotating shifts.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Successful candidates will be subject to pre-employment and ongoing random drug/alcohol testing.

Customer Service: -

Manages difficult or emotional customer situations; Responds promptly to customer needs.

Education and/or Experience

• High School diploma or GED.
• Experience in retail sales preferred.
• Testing may be required.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
