Bath & Floor Stiles
Sales & Design Consultant
Location: Gaithersburg, MD -- showroom-based with regular travel to clients' homes throughout Montgomery County and the greater D.C. metro area
Renovation with Innovation
For more than 25 years, Bath & Floor Stiles has helped homeowners transform kitchens, bathrooms, and living spaces with premium products, expert guidance, and professional installation. Our locally owned Gaithersburg design center gives clients one trusted team for design, materials, and construction. We are known for craftsmanship, honest recommendations, accountability, and a client-first approach.
We are seeking an experienced, results-driven Sales & Design Consultant to meet with company-generated qualified leads, understand their renovation goals, develop thoughtful design solutions, and close profitable kitchen, bathroom, and flooring projects.
This is a base-plus-commission position, not a commission-only role. You will receive company-generated appointments, access to our showroom and product catalog, and a stable base salary while building an uncapped commission pipeline. The ideal candidate is a consultative closer who can combine design awareness, technical accuracy, and genuine client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-home and showroom consultations with prospective clients.
- Identify each homeowner's needs, preferences, budget, and project goals.
- Measure spaces and scope kitchen, bathroom, and flooring renovations accurately.
- Help clients select materials, finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, and flooring.
- Present design recommendations, pricing, and proposals clearly and confidently.
- Prepare accurate estimates, proposals, and contracts using company systems.
- Guide qualified clients toward a decision and close signed remodeling agreements.
- Protect project profitability by maintaining appropriate margins and avoiding unauthorized discounts.
- Maintain accurate lead, appointment, proposal, and follow-up records in the company CRM.
- Manage the client relationship through contract signing and complete a thorough handoff to the project management team.
- Ability to manage sold projects through to completion, when needed, coordinating installation and keeping the client informed through final walkthrough
- Meet or exceed monthly signed-revenue and gross-margin goals.
- Generate referrals by delivering an honest, professional, and enjoyable sales experience.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of successful in-home, outside, or high-ticket sales experience.
- Documented ability to close qualified leads and manage a sales pipeline.
- Strong consultative selling, rapport-building, presentation, and follow-up skills.
- Comfortable discussing design options, project scope, pricing, and budgets with homeowners.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic calculations involving area, quantity, pricing, and margin.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable learning and consistently using CRM, estimating, and proposal technology.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation for travel to client homes, and a driving record that meets company requirements.
- Prior kitchen and bath, flooring, remodeling, roofing, windows, solar, or other home-improvement sales experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience with in-home design or one-call-close sales processes is preferred.
- Bilingual English and Spanish skills are a plus.
- Self-motivated, coachable, ethical, and comfortable working toward defined sales goals.
- Schedule: Full-time; availability for some evening and/or weekend client appointments is required.
Pay and Benefits
- Full-time, W-2 employment.
- Base salary: approximately $45,000-$50,000 per year, depending on experience.
- Uncapped commission based on eligible project gross margin under the company's commission plan.
- On-target earnings: approximately $128,000 annually when established sales and gross-margin targets are achieved.
- High performers may earn $175,000+ annually based on sales volume and gross margin; this amount is not guaranteed.
- Full base salary begins on the first day of engagement while the commission pipeline develops.
- Commission eligibility on qualifying signed projects begins upon employment, subject to the company's commission plan.
- Company-generated homeowner appointments; no cold calling or door-knocking.
- Access to an established Gaithersburg showroom, product samples, pricing tools, and proposal systems.
- Established installation and subcontractor network to support project delivery.
- Advancement opportunities into senior sales or team leadership roles as the company grows.
Compensation above the base salary is performance-based and is not guaranteed. Actual earnings depend on eligible sales production, project gross margin, and the terms of the company's commission plan.
