The Director of Sales position is responsible for directing the sales and marketing efforts of the hotel in order to maximize revenue and exceed sales forecasts. This role requires the Director of Sales to oversee the retention and acquisition of accounts by growing existing accounts and generating new business through proactive sales efforts.
The Director of Sales will execute all aspects of the sales and marketing plans to surpass revenue goals. You will make sales calls, both inside and outside, for prospecting to find new business and maintenance to maintain relationships with current accounts. You will build and maintain relationships with key clients and create and solicit new business through innovative means.
Additional responsibilities include:
Responding to RFPs and overseeing the yielding of group blocks for better rate management
Monitoring rates, making recommendations for yielding, and assisting with rate management
Attending CVB and Chamber events and being involved with local civic organizations to maintain a strong presence in the community
Maintaining knowledge of events in the area and at competitor hotels
Assisting with preparation of yearly and quarterly sales and marketing budgets and the annual marketing plan
Working with the General Manager to analyze sales and marketing reports and develop business plans as needed
Ensuring proper systems are utilized to track all sales files, sales calls, and production of various rate segments for the hotel
Attending sales and marketing meetings and training sessions offered by the brand
Positively representing and promoting the property and offering guest assistance whenever possible
Answering inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services and appropriately addressing guest requests
Overall, the Director of Sales will play a critical role in ensuring the hotel achieves superior revenue performance while providing guests with exceptional experiences.

Qualifications:
Proven experience as Director of Sales, Sales Manager, or Area Sales Leader in upscale, full-service, or select-service hotels required
Strong experience managing sales programs, developing new business, and growing existing key accounts
Demonstrated results in exceeding revenue goals and sales forecasts
Knowledge of hotel sales systems, Delphi, Opera, Opera Cloud, or similar PMS and SFA systems preferred
Strong understanding of hospitality sales, revenue management, business development, and market analysis
Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Willingness to be active in the Philadelphia community including CVB, Chamber, and civic organizations
Ability to work flexible hours and travel for sales calls and community events as needed
High-volume hotel experience and experience in the Philadelphia market preferred
