Sales Engineer – Commercial Mechanical Construction

Location: Greater San Diego Area, CA
Compensation: Base Salary + Uncapped Commission
Experience: 5+ Years Preferred

About the Opportunity

An established and growing commercial mechanical contractor in Southern California is looking to add a Sales Engineer to its team.

This is an opportunity for someone who understands the mechanical construction industry, enjoys building relationships, and wants to play a direct role in developing and securing new projects.

The company specializes in commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and design-build mechanical construction, with projects typically ranging from $1M–$15M.

The position offers a base salary plus uncapped commission, strong earning potential, and plenty of room for long-term growth.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, building owners, and industry partners.

• Identify, pursue, and help secure commercial mechanical construction projects.

• Work with estimating, engineering, and operations teams to develop project proposals and solutions.

• Participate in design-build, value engineering, and preconstruction discussions.

• Help clients evaluate mechanical systems, project budgets, and potential alternatives.

• Grow existing accounts while developing new business opportunities.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of commercial mechanical construction experience preferred.

• Experience working for a commercial mechanical contractor strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of commercial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems.

• Background in sales engineering, business development, preconstruction, estimating, or project management.

• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.

• Ability to understand technical project requirements and work collaboratively with internal teams.

• Motivated to develop business and build long-term client relationships.
