Sales Engineer - Data Center Power (Western U.S.)

Location: Western U.S. (Northern California preferred; remote acceptable)

Travel: ~50% (regular travel throughout West Coast)

Summary

Amphenol Industrial Products Group (AIPG) is seeking a highly motivated Sales Engineer to drive growth in the rapidly expanding data center power infrastructure market. This role will focus on developing and managing relationships with hyperscalers and data center ecosystem partners across the Western U.S.

The ideal candidate brings established relationships within hyperscalers, data center operators, or key suppliers, and understands how to navigate complex, high-value sales cycles. While technical aptitude is important, success in this role will be driven by industry connections, commercial acumen, and the ability to generate new opportunities within a competitive, fast-paced market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies targeting hyperscalers (e.g., Google, Meta, NVIDIA) and data center infrastructure providers
  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities within data center power applications (busway, power distribution, connectors, and cable solutions)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers across engineering, procurement, and operations organizations
  • Drive print position and design wins for AIPG power solutions in new and existing programs
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline to support long-term growth targets
  • Coordinate closely with product management, engineering, and other Amphenol business units to align solutions with customer needs
  • Provide accurate forecasting (monthly, quarterly, annual) and participate in regular business reviews with leadership
  • Monitor competitive landscape (e.g., Hubbell, HARTING) and position AIPG's differentiated solutions effectively
  • Act as a market expert on data center power trends, including evolving architectures (busway, rack power distribution, high-density power)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Direct experience working with hyperscalers or data center suppliers (REQUIRED)

  • Proven track record of selling into or supporting:

  • Hyperscale data centers

  • Cloud infrastructure providers

  • Data center OEMs / integrators / power distribution suppliers

  • Strong network and relationships within the Northern California / Silicon Valley ecosystem preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and expand key accounts

  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization and collaborate across multiple business units

  • Willingness and ability to travel ~50% across the Western U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with:

  • Power distribution systems (busway, rack power, high-current connectors)

  • Cable assemblies, interconnects, or related infrastructure products

  • Background in selling technical products into data center or adjacent markets (semiconductors, networking, fiber, etc.)

  • Familiarity with Amphenol or similar interconnect/industrial product environments

What We're Looking For

  • Strong industry access - relationships matter more than deep connector expertise
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to open doors and win programs quickly
  • Self-starter comfortable working remotely while owning a large geographic territory
  • Ability to "hit the ground running" in a high-growth, competitive market

Compensation

  • Target base salary: $140,000 - $180,000+ (flexible based on experience and location)
  • Performance-based bonus aligned with revenue growth and account success
