The Sales Engineer serves as the bridge between our customers and our engineered solutions. This role combines technical expertise with business acumen to work directly with customers to understand and implement our solutions while driving revenue growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work across the entire Michigan Wheel team to develop and execute technical sales strategies
Direct interaction with customers/distributors, largely through phone and email
Identify new business opportunities
Articulate our product''s technical value proposition and address complex customer requirements
Lead technical discovery calls, demos, and proof-of-concept implementations for prospective customers
Create and deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations
Provide detailed technical responses to RFPs and security questionnaires
Guide customers through technical evaluation and implementation phases
Gather and communicate customer feedback to product and engineering teams
Stay current with industry trends and competitive landscape
Assist with project management on more complex projects
Qualifications
Bachelor''s degree in Naval Architecture, Engineering, or related technical field
3+ years of work experience preferably in technical sales, but solutions engineering or similar customer-facing technical role acceptable
Excellent presentation and communication skills, with ability to explain complex technical concepts to various audiences
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with marine propulsion systems
Background in hydrodynamics
Experience with CRM systems and sales tools
Project management experience
Trade show experience
Government contracting experience, specifically in bid/proposal and project management
Spanish or Japanese language skills a plus
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds for trade show setups
Work Environment
This role requires up to 20% travel to customer sites and industry events. The remainder of time will be spent working in an office environment as well as interaction with the manufacturing plant. Personal Protective Equipment required in manufacturing spaces and some customer site visits: Safety Glasses with side shields, hearing protection, and steel-toed work shoes required.
