Sales Engineer

As a Quobyte Sales Engineer, you’ll be responsible for all outward facing technical issues with customers, prospects, and partners. From the first meeting through to the deployment and beyond, you’ll help and consult the customer with capacity and hardware planning, configuration, setup and installation, evaluation and analysis of results, and benchmarks performed as part of the sales process. You’ll help define architectures, respond to RFPs and public tenders, deliver solutions for customers, and train partners and customers. As a Quobyte SE you’ll work closely with marketing and engineering to help incorporate customer feedback into the product.

You are a good listener, with attention to detail and good project management skills. You have good interpersonal skills and can work in a cross-functional environment. You demonstrate technical leadership and subject matter expertise on file systems, storage architectures, and competing storage products. You are a self-starter and can work on your own or as part of a team and at times be able to lead. Willingness to travel within the US is a must.

Requirements

• Pre-Sales Acumen: 3+ years of experience as a Pre-Sales Systems Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Consultant selling enterprise infrastructure, distributed storage, or AI infrastructure.
• \n
• Enterprise Architecture Design: Strong capability in designing complex, distributed systems. Proven experience sizing storage clusters based on real-world workload dynamics (e.g., small-file IOPS vs. large sequential throughput).
• \n
• Storage Expertise: Deep understanding of storage protocols and architecture. You know what NFS is and how it works, what the page cache does, and the practical differences between SAN, NAS, NVMe, SAS, and SATA.

• The “Value Translation” Skill: Exceptional ability to translate deep, low-level technical features (like split-brain protection or metadata distribution) into clear, quantifiable business value (such as reduced downtime, faster AI training cycles, or hardware cost savings).

• Linux Internalist: You know Linux inside out. You are comfortable using strace, tcpdump, perf, and tuning kernel parameters to find the “why” behind a failure.

• Network Diagnostician: Deep understanding of TCP/IP and Ethernet. You understand how network congestion, topology, and packet loss impact distributed systems and know the tools to prove it.

• Communication: Excellent English proficiency. You can write clear and structured emails and provide calm and professional guidance on video calls.

• Modern IT Infrastructure: Familiarity with Kubernetes, CSI drivers, containerized environments, and SLURM.
• \n
• AI/HPC Experience: Prior experience in industries or with use-cases typical of our customers (e.g., AI/ML, HPC, Life Sciences, HFT).

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a STEM subject.
