About the Role
Compensation: Based on experience, qualifications, and performance.
Anytime Fitness Barrington is looking for a motivated, business-minded
Fitness Manager / Personal Trainer who is passionate about fitness, sales, leadership, and helping grow a successful business.
This position begins as a part-time personal training role with a 90-day introductory and performance review period. During this initial period, the primary focus will be on establishing yourself as a successful trainer, building a client base, delivering exceptional member experiences, demonstrating strong sales and communication skills, and learning our systems and standards.
At the end of the 90-day period, we'll conduct a formal performance review to evaluate your progress, consistency, client results, sales performance, initiative, and overall fit for increased responsibility.
Strong performance can create opportunities to take on additional leadership responsibilities and progress toward a full-time Fitness Manager or other leadership position.
Advancement is
performance-based and not automatic. We're looking for someone who earns increased responsibility by consistently demonstrating that they can produce results, take ownership, and contribute to the success of the club.
This role combines personal training, member engagement, sales, and business development. You'll coach clients, build lasting relationships, grow the personal training program, and help increase membership through exceptional service and strong lead conversion.
What We Can Do for You
We're not just looking for someone to fill a position. We're looking for someone we can
develop into a leader.
If you're growth-minded and interested in building a long-term career in the fitness industry, this role provides the opportunity to develop skills far beyond personal training. You'll gain hands-on experience in
sales, leadership, business development, client retention, marketing, team management, and day-to-day gym operations.
You'll work closely with management, learn how a successful fitness business operates, take ownership of projects, and have opportunities to put your ideas into action.
For the right person, the path can look something like:
Part-Time Personal Trainer Increased Responsibility Fitness Manager Full-Time Leadership
That progression is based on
performance, initiative, leadership ability, and business results.
We're especially interested in people who want to
build something rather than simply clock in and clock out. If you have ambitions to become a Fitness Manager, General Manager, Regional Leader, or eventually operate your own fitness business, this can be a strong environment to develop the skills and experience needed to get there.
Your growth matters to us. We want to invest in people who are willing to invest in themselves.
What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
During your introductory period, you'll be expected to:
- Build and maintain a consistent personal training schedule
- Deliver high-quality training sessions and exceptional client experiences
- Build strong relationships with members and prospective clients
- Actively participate in lead follow-up and personal training sales
- Demonstrate the ability to convert consultations into paying clients
- Generate opportunities through referrals, outreach, and member engagement
- Maintain accurate client records and follow club systems and procedures
- Communicate professionally and consistently with members and management
- Be dependable, punctual, organized, and prepared
- Take initiative without needing to be constantly directed
- Learn and execute Anytime Fitness systems, standards, and processes
- Contribute ideas and demonstrate a willingness to take ownership
- Show measurable improvement throughout the 90-day period
The goal of the first 90 days is simple: prove that you're ready for more.
If you demonstrate strong performance, consistency, leadership potential, and a genuine desire to contribute to the business, we'll discuss opportunities to expand your responsibilities and continue your career progression with the club.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fitness consultations, assessments, and goal-setting sessions
- Design and deliver customized personal training programs based on each client's goals and abilities
- Educate members on proper exercise techniques, equipment usage, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle habits

You take initiative, embrace challenges, and enjoy building both people and businesses. You're motivated by results, passionate about helping others succeed, and understand that outstanding member experiences drive long-term business growth.
We're particularly interested in candidates who are
ambitious, coachable, competitive, and eager to grow. You don't need to know everything on day one. We're looking for someone with the right mindset who is willing to learn, take feedback, and continuously improve.

earn your way into leadership through performance, this could be a great opportunity to build a career. Not just take another job.
