Sales Project Manager - Commercial Flooring
Salary: $70,000-$110,000 + Commission
Position Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Sales Project Manager to bridge sales and operations for our commercial flooring projects. The ideal candidate will manage the full lifecycle from proposal and takeoffs through installation and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to client expectations. This role combines sales acumen, project management discipline, and technical knowledge of commercial flooring to grow revenue, protect margins, and build long-term customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pre-sales activities including site visits, requirements gathering, measurements, and accurate takeoffs to produce competitive estimates and proposals.
- Prepare detailed proposals, scopes of work, and sales contracts in collaboration with estimating and operations teams.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, resources, and procurement to ensure timely delivery and profitability.
- Coordinate with clients, general contractors, architects, vendors, and installation crews to communicate expectations and resolve issues.
- Perform value engineering and product recommendations to meet client needs while protecting margins.
- Track project progress and financial performance, produce regular status reports, and escalate risks to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms, warranty requirements, safety standards, and applicable building codes.
- Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication, on-site oversight, and timely resolution of punch lists and warranty items.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and support account development.
- Maintain organized project documentation, change orders, invoices, and closeout packages for handover to operations and finance.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of combined sales and project management experience in commercial flooring, construction, or a related trade; or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to perform takeoffs and prepare accurate estimates; familiarity with digital takeoff and estimating tools preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial flooring materials, installation methods, site conditions, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated project management skills including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and subcontractor coordination.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing skills with a customer-service mindset.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and project management or CRM systems; experience with estimating software is a plus.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently under tight deadlines.
- PMP or other project management certification is a plus; valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
