Salesforce Developer Gexa Energy | C&I Team | Houston, TX (On-Site)
About the Role NextEra Energy is seeking a skilled and versatile Salesforce Developer to support our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) business unit. You will work closely with the development lead to prioritize and deliver on the most critical Salesforce initiatives, while also providing technical guidance to offshore teams and supporting production issues as needed. This role requires someone who is adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable operating across both development and support responsibilities.
What You'll Do
Partner with the development lead to align on priorities and deliver high-impact C&I initiatives
Design, develop, test, and deploy Salesforce solutions across the full development stack
Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and internal/external systems using a variety of patterns and mechanisms
Provide technical direction and guidance to offshore development teams, including code reviews, ticket clarification, and unblocking work across time zones
Triage, diagnose, and resolve Salesforce production issues with minimal business disruption
Collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, and administrators to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
Maintain and enhance existing automation, configuration, and platform components
Uphold platform security, governance, and development best practices throughout the SDLC
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
6 years of hands-on Salesforce development experience
Proficiency in Apex including triggers, classes, batch, scheduled, queueable, and future jobs
Experience building UI solutions using Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura Components, and Visualforce pages, components, and controllers
Ability to generate PDFs within Salesforce using Visualforce-based rendering or third-party document generation tools
Experience with inbound REST APIs via @RestResource annotated Apex classes, outbound REST callouts using HttpRequest/HttpResponse, inbound SOAP web services via the webservice keyword, and outbound SOAP callouts via WSDL-generated proxy classes
Familiarity with event-driven integration patterns including Platform Events, Change Data Capture (CDC), and Outbound Messages
Experience with Named Credentials, Auth Providers, and External Services for secure and declarative integrations
Hands-on experience with middleware or ETL platforms such as MuleSoft or equivalent
Proficiency in Salesforce configuration including custom objects, fields, relationships, Custom Metadata Types, Custom Settings, and Custom Labels
Experience creating and managing Email Templates in both Classic (text, HTML, Visualforce) and Lightning (Enhanced Letterhead, Lightning HTML) formats
Ability to build Reports, Dashboards, and custom Report Types
Strong understanding of Salesforce security model including Permission Sets, Permission Set Groups, Profiles, user management, role hierarchy, and sharing rules
Experience with Flow including Screen, Auto-launched, Record-triggered, and Scheduled Flows as well as validation rules, formula fields, and roll-up summary fields
Familiarity with deployment tools including Change Sets, Salesforce DX, and Metadata API
Strong understanding of the Salesforce data model and governor limits
Ability to take direction from a lead and self-manage delivery against shifting priorities
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with offshore teams, including ticket guidance, code reviews, and asynchronous collaboration
Comfortable switching between development and production support responsibilities as business needs evolve
Hands-on experience with GitHub for version control, branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative code management
Salesforce Platform Developer I certification (or higher)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Vlocity CLM (Contract Lifecycle Management) and Vlocity Product Console
Hands-on experience with OmniStudio OmniScripts, Integration Procedures, and DataRaptors
Familiarity with Vlocity Templates and Document Templates
Experience with Salesforce Energy & Utility Cloud
Business knowledge of the electric industry, including C&I customer segments, rate structures, energy contracting, and utility operations
Prior experience in a hybrid onshore/offshore delivery model
Familiarity with DevOps tooling such as Salesforce DX, Git, etc.
Salesforce Platform Developer II, OmniStudio Developer, or Administrator certification
