Job Description

Role: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next Migration Lead
Type: Long-term rolling contract
Location: On-site in Alameda, CA

Description:
We are seeking a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next Specialist to lead and support our organization's migration from legacy Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) to Marketing Cloud Next.

This is a hands-on, technically deep role for someone who understands not just marketing automation at a conceptual level, but the underlying architecture shift Marketing Cloud Next represents — including Data Cloud-native data models, zero-copy data sharing, and the new integration patterns that come with it.

You'll partner closely with marketing operations, martech, data engineering, and (where applicable) commercial/field teams to plan, execute, and validate a migration that preserves campaign continuity, data integrity, and reporting fidelity while unlocking the architectural advantages of the new platform.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical migration strategy from SFMC (classic) to Marketing Cloud Next, including assessment of existing journeys, data extensions, automations, and integrations for migration readiness
  • Design and implement Data Cloud data model configurations that underpin Marketing Cloud Next, including data streams, calculated insights, identity resolution, and segmentation objects
  • Architect and implement zero-copy data sharing patterns to connect Marketing Cloud Next with Data Cloud and other connected systems, minimizing unnecessary data duplication and latency
  • Transition traditional journey logic using modern automation tools like Salesforce Flow Builder
  • Design and manage integrations between Marketing Cloud Next and upstream/downstream systems (CRM, CDP, data warehouse, field/commercial systems, vendor platforms) using native connectors, APIs, and Data Cloud ingestion pipelines
  • Partner with data governance and compliance stakeholders to ensure consent management, data retention, and privacy requirements are preserved throughout the migration (particularly important in regulated industries)
  • Validate data parity and reporting continuity pre/post-migration; build test plans and reconciliation processes to confirm campaign, audience, and performance data integrity
  • Document architecture decisions, data lineage, and integration patterns for long-term platform maintainability
  • Act as the internal subject matter expert on Marketing Cloud Next capabilities, limitations, and best practices, advising stakeholders on what's newly possible (and what needs to be re-thought) versus legacy SFMC
  • Collaborate with marketing operations and campaign teams to minimize disruption during cutover and provide enablement/training on the new platform
Qualifications
Required:
  • 7–10 years of overall Marketing/MarTech domain experience, with a strong concentration in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Deep, hands-on experience with Marketing Cloud Next, including:
    • Zero-copy data architecture and its implications for campaign execution and reporting
    • Data Cloud setup and configuration (data streams, data model objects, identity resolution, calculated insights, segmentation)
    • Native and custom integrations between Marketing Cloud Next, Data Cloud, and adjacent systems (CRM, CDP, data warehouse, APIs)
  • Experience leading large-scale marketing platform migrations, with strong hands-on experience in Salesforce Data Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of journey orchestration, audience segmentation, and personalization logic, and how these concepts translate across the SFMC Marketing Cloud Next architecture shift
  • Experience with data validation, reconciliation, and QA methodologies for marketing data migrations
  • Ability to translate technical architecture decisions into clear implications for non-technical marketing stakeholders
  • Strong documentation habits — architecture diagrams, data lineage, integration specs
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in Life Sciences or another highly regulated industry, including familiarity with compliance/consent considerations relevant to HCP or patient-facing marketing data
  • Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Data Cloud certifications
  • Experience integrating Marketing Cloud with Salesforce Sales/Service Cloud custom objects
  • Familiarity with field-based marketing data capture tools and vendor performance/event data workflows
  • Exposure to AI/agentic tooling within the Salesforce ecosystem (e.g.,Agentforce, Einstein)

The salary range provided for this contract role represents our good faith estimate for this position. Within the range, individual offers will vary based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, location and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process (W2 or C2C).
