The Salon Manager is responsible for overseeing daily salon operations, leading employees, delivering excellent customer service, and supporting business growth. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, hands-on, and comfortable working with children and families.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, coach, schedule, and support stylists and front-desk employees.
Monitor employee attendance, professionalism, productivity, and performance.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development.
Create a positive, respectful, and accountable workplace culture.
Ensure children and families receive a welcoming, patient, and professional experience.
Handle customer questions, complaints, refunds, and service-recovery situations.
Oversee appointment flow, walk-ins, wait times, and staffing coverage.
Ensure the salon is clean, organized, safe, and properly maintained.
Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, inventory, and supply ordering.
Ensure employees follow sanitation, safety, licensing, and company policies.
Monitor salon revenue, retail sales, rebooking, labor hours, and customer satisfaction.
Support promotions, birthday parties, community events, and customer-retention efforts.
Keep the owner informed about staffing, customer concerns, performance, and operational issues.
Serve as the primary person in charge when the owner is unavailable.
Qualifications
Previous management or supervisory experience in a salon, retail, hospitality, or service business preferred.
Strong leadership, customer-service, and conflict-resolution skills.
Comfortable working with children and communicating with parents.
Able to lead with kindness while holding employees accountable.
Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.
Comfortable using appointment-scheduling and point-of-sale systems.
Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and busy periods.
Cosmetology experience or licensing is preferred but not required unless required by law.
Performance Expectations
Success will be measured by customer satisfaction, employee performance, salon cleanliness, revenue growth, appointment utilization, labor management, and timely communication with the owner.
