JOB SUMMARY:
A Salvage and Repair employee uses multiple hand tools to prepare, repair, and clean cabinets and cabinet material to restore to a usable condition and pass inspection.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Understand and utilize the visual quality standards manual and gauges
- Make independent quality decisions based on specs, processes, and operating procedures
- Perform repairs and clean cabinets using hand and power tools, towels, and dusters
- Accurately interpret labels, paperwork, option codes, and nomenclature
- Effectively communicate with appropriate parties all quality concerns
- Maintain a safe work environment, including housekeeping
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to identify cabinet types, wood species, finishes, color variances, door and drawer front styles, and all box components
- Ability to learn AWC quality systems including various computer programs and systems
- Ability to use basic math concepts and read a standard tape measure
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
Required Physical Ability:
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and use of repetitive motions
- Specific vison abilities including close and peripheral vision, and the ability to focus
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 20lb, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lb
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Working in an environment with excessive hot, humid, and cold temperatures
- Protective safety gear will be required including safety glasses
- Exposure to hazardous elements such as dust, paint, overspray, fumes, chemicals, and other particles requiring safety precautions
- The noise level is usually moderate to high
- Occasional overtime and weekend work as required
