Location: 1750 POWELL MILL RD, Spartanburg, SC, ATSCountThis Federal Work-Study position supports the Spartanburg Academic Movement's Big Mo Initiative, a community-based program designed to expand postsecondary access for high school students in Spartanburg County. The student employee will assist in outreach, program coordination, and resource development that help connect students and families with college access information, financial aid resources, and postsecondary planning support. The work will be performed primarily at the Spartanburg Academic Movement Office located at 101 N Pine Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302, with a combination of in-person and remote work depending on organizational needs. Students are responsible for transportation.Students may work up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session. Work schedules will be coordinated so that employment does not interfere with academic responsibilities. Employment is contingent upon continued eligibility for the Federal Work-Study and availability of funds.ResponsibilitiesAssist with planning and preparation for college tours, workshops, and postsecondary access events for local high school studentsAssist with outreach efforts that connect students and families with information about scholarships, FAFSA completion, and college access programsHelp develop and maintain resource materials related to postsecondary planning and financial aid opportunitiesAssist in collecting, organizing, and maintaining program participation data in accordance with organizational proceduresProvide administrative and logistical support for community programming and eventsPerform other related duties that support the mission of the Big Mo Initiative and comply with Federal Work-Study program requirementsRequirementsStudents eligible for Federal Work-Study programs who are enrolled in a degree-granting institution and able to commit to 20 hours per week. Must be able to travel to the Spartanburg Academic Movement office and coordinate schedules with Spartanburg Methodist College staff.
