Key Responsibilities

Operations & Sample Management

Oversee daily operations of the samples department, including cutting, finishing, labeling, and packaging stone samples. Ensure samples accurately reflect current inventory, finishes, and product offerings. Maintain consistent quality standards for all samples. Manage workflow and prioritize sample requests based on business needs and deadlines.

Inventory & Organization

Maintain accurate sample inventory (physical and system-based). Track sample usage, replenishment needs, and discontinued materials. Coordinate removal and replacement of outdated or unavailable products. Ensure samples are properly labeled, stored, and organized.

Team Leadership

Supervise, train, and schedule samples department staff. Establish safety, quality, and productivity expectations. Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support. Promote safe handling of stone materials and equipment.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Partner with Sales to support customer needs. Communicate with Production/Quarry teams regarding material availability. Support trade shows, customer visits, and special projects as needed.

Process Improvement & Safety

Develop and maintain SOPs for sample production and handling. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control costs. Ensure compliance with safety policies, PPE requirements, and equipment use. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications

Stone experience preferred. Ability to read work orders, specifications, and finish requirements. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Basic computer skills (Outlook Word, Excel, order tracking). Ability to lift and move stone samples with proper equipment and assistance. Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and work in a production or warehouse environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with assistance or equipment. Exposure to dust, noise, and stone materials (with PPE).
