Role Overview
The Facilities and Sanitation Worker plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant meat and seafood processing environment. This entry-level position is responsible for rigorous cleaning and sanitizing of production areas, equipment, and floors. The role ensures all sanitation activities meet USDA and SQF food safety standards. Workers perform a variety of physical tasks, contribute to environmental monitoring, and help maintain overall hygiene and safety throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
" Clean and sanitize production areas, equipment, and floors using high-pressure hoses and approved chemicals.
" Comply with USDA and SQF food safety standards during all cleaning and sanitation activities.
" Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature and cleanliness, to support food safety requirements.
" Handle waste management tasks, including removal, sorting, and proper disposal of waste materials.
" Complete required documentation related to cleaning, sanitation, and environmental monitoring.
" Perform heavy lifting and operate cleaning equipment as needed.
" Maintain hygiene and safety in cold and wet working conditions.
" Assist with grounds maintenance, including basic landscaping and upkeep of outdoor areas.
" Provide valet services as directed, such as moving company vehicles or assisting with deliveries.
" Support laundry and linen administration, including washing, folding, and distributing uniforms or linens.
" Work cooperatively with team members to achieve sanitation goals.
" Follow all safety instructions and procedures to prevent accidents or contamination.
Typical Requirements
" Experience: 0 3 years in facilities, sanitation, or similar roles (no prior experience required).
" Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in cold/wet environments.
" Basic sensory skills for identifying cleanliness and safety issues.
" Strong attention to detail and commitment to following safety protocols.
" Ability to read and complete simple documentation and checklists.
" Teamwork skills and willingness to support others when needed.
Work Environment
