Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Sanitation Manager to oversee sanitation operations across multiple food manufacturing facilities. This role will lead a team of approximately 8–10 hourly sanitation employees while ensuring facilities are cleaned safely, efficiently, and in accordance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
This is a highly hands-on, floor-oriented leadership position. The Sanitation Manager will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Plant Management to maintain sanitation standards, resolve issues, and continuously improve sanitation processes.
Must-Have Skills:
- Sanitation Leadership: 3+ years of sanitation leadership or management experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
- Food Safety: Strong knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, food safety requirements, sanitation procedures, and cleaning processes.
- Team Leadership: Experience managing, training, and developing hourly sanitation employees.
- Hands-On Leadership: Comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor and working directly with sanitation and production teams.
- Communication: Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual: Spanish/English communication skills strongly preferred.
Job Duties:
- Oversee sanitation operations across multiple manufacturing facilities.
- Manage, train, and develop a team of approximately 8–10 hourly sanitation employees.
- Provide hands-on leadership during the evening/night sanitation shift and ensure facilities are properly cleaned and production-ready.
- Develop, implement, and maintain sanitation procedures, SSOPs, cleaning schedules, and related programs.
- Ensure compliance with GMPs, food safety requirements, HACCP programs, and applicable regulations.
- Conduct sanitation inspections and audits, identify deficiencies, and drive corrective actions.
- Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Plant Management to resolve sanitation and food safety issues.
- Oversee the proper use, storage, and handling of sanitation chemicals and equipment.
- Monitor sanitation performance, productivity, and labor utilization.
- Investigate sanitation-related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate sanitation records, inspection reports, and required documentation.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Identify opportunities to improve sanitation processes, efficiency, safety, and overall plant cleanliness.
- Establish performance expectations and accountability for the sanitation team.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of sanitation leadership or management experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, food safety, sanitation procedures, and cleaning processes.
- Experience managing and developing hourly sanitation employees.
- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment on an off-shift.
- Strong understanding of sanitation chemicals, equipment, and cleaning processes.
- Ability to manage priorities across multiple facilities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a highly visible, hands-on manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: HACCP or PCQI certification.
- Preferred: Bilingual Spanish/English communication skills.
