About the Team:

Our Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) and Operations teams are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and safety across CookUnity's facilities. The Sanitation Manager will be an integral part of this effort, working hands-on with hourly teams on the ground to ensure compliance, accountability, and excellence every day.

The role:

We seek a proactive and detail-oriented Sanitation Manager to lead sanitation operations at our New York facility. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for managing a large hourly workforce (80+ direct reports) across multiple shifts.

The Sanitation Manager will ensure food safety, cleanliness, and compliance with regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The Sanitation Manager will manage the daily tasks performance of our dish and cleaning teams.

This role requires flexibility to be present on-site during weekdays, weekends, and occasionally night/overnight shifts, depending on operational needs.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and lead all personnel devoted to sanitation activities, ensuring adherence to master sanitation schedules, SSOPs, GMPs, and HACCP. • Serve as the primary operational contact for 3rd-party cleaning services and manage vendor relationships including chemical provider and linen service. • Collaborate with FSQA to enhance program and procedures, taking the lead on implementation. • Manage Sanitation staffing, schedules, time keeping and performance evaluations. • Monitor and enforce compliance with regulatory standards for cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across all production areas and equipment. • Lead on implementation of sanitation corrective actions assigned through audits, pest deficiency reports, inspections or program improvements. • Collaborate with FSQA and Operations teams to maintain and improve food safety and quality standards. • Collaborate with maintenance to coordinate deep cleans, emergency clean ups and sanitation preventive maintenance. • Manage chemical usage, storage and safety in accordance with OSHA and manufacturer guidelines. • Provide sanitary expertise on operation, cleaning and light maintenance of dish washing machines, floor scrubbing machines and other equipment. • Maintain accurate records of sanitation procedures and cleaning logs. • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company-specific food safety protocols.

Qualifications:

3 - 5 years of Sanitation leadership experience in a food processing environment Bilingual in English and Spanish Strong knowledge of food processing sanitation standards in FDA/USDA regulated facilities, and knowledge of GMP, SSOP & HACCP Proven leadership and team management skills Must be available to work weekends, nights, and across multiple shifts as required by facility operations Positive, driven, solution-oriented mindset Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities Comfortable working in wet, cold/hot, and potentially noisy conditions for extended periods Flexibility to manage personnel as needed across three shifts, including overnights and weekends
