Sanitation Worker

This Sanitation role is responsible for maintaining food safety standards by cleaning and sanitizing equipment, surfaces, and facilities within a distribution center environment. It’s a hands-on position that combines physical work, equipment operation, and attention to detail to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant operation.



LOCATION: Clackamas, OR
SALARY: $17/hr.
SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday-Friday | 6:00am-2:30pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Follow food safety and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with Mission Produce standards in a distribution center environment 
  • Clean and sanitize food contact and non-food contact surfaces, including floors, drains, walls, and equipment using manual and mechanical cleaning tools 
  • Operate and maintain heavy cleaning equipment and machinery such as scrubbers, pressure washers, pallet jacks, and lifts as needed 
  • Document sanitation activities accurately, follow chemical handling instructions, and communicate issues promptly to supervisors and leads

     

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices with ability to follow established standards and procedures 
  • Ability to perform heavy cleaning tasks using manual and powered equipment such as scrubbers, pressure washers, and hand tools 
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately complete sanitation logs and documentation 
  • Effective communication skills with ability to follow instructions and report issues to supervisors 
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and operate or learn heavy equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts, with flexibility for varying work schedules




PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role requires the ability to work in both cold, temperature-controlled environments and warm outdoor conditions while standing, walking, and moving throughout the shift. Candidates must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs, push or maneuver heavy wheeled equipment up to 250 lbs, and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, and crouching as needed.
