SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Crystal Reports are used across NC DEQ for enterprise reporting and are integrated with several web-based and legacy applications. The current environment runs SAP BusinessObjects 4.2 and SAP Crystal Reports 2016. BusinessObjects 4.2 is no longer supported by SAP, creating operational, security, compatibility, and maintainability risks. This engagement requires strong SAP BusinessObjects platform experience, Windows Server expertise, and demonstrated success modernizing systems that contain legacy reports, applications, integrations, and dependencies.
Job Responsibilities
- Inventory and assess the existing SAP BusinessObjects 4.2 and Crystal Reports 2016 environments, including servers, reports, repositories, databases, users, security, schedules, and integrations.
- Review architecture, configurations, licensing, patch levels, dependencies, technical debt, compatibility concerns, and migration risks.
- Validate the phased migration strategy from BusinessObjects 4.2 to 4.3, Crystal Reports 2016 to 2020, and BusinessObjects 4.3 to 2025.
- Assess compatibility across BusinessObjects, Crystal Reports, Windows Server 2022, databases, browsers, authentication services, application servers, and third-party components.
- Develop detailed migration plans covering sequencing, dependencies, effort estimates, environments, risks, decision points, rollback, and operational continuity.
- Install, configure, patch, secure, and migrate content from BusinessObjects 4.2 to the approved BusinessObjects 4.3 environment.
- Migrate and remediate applicable Crystal Reports 2016 reports, runtimes, viewers, libraries, drivers, and application integrations to Crystal Reports 2020.
- Install and configure BusinessObjects 2025 and migrate or upgrade reports, universes, repositories, security, schedules, publications, and integrations.
- Plan and execute migration to Windows Server 2022, addressing operating-system dependencies, permissions, certificates, drivers, middleware, networking, and security requirements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing covering report accuracy, performance, connectivity, authentication, scheduling, distribution, exports, printing, integrations, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Execute production cutovers with detailed rollback plans, post-migration validation, stabilization support, incident resolution, and approved retirement of legacy environments.
- Deliver architecture and operational documentation, migration inventories, test results, scripts, configuration records, migration logs, procedures, and knowledge-transfer sessions.
