SAP IS-Utilities Device Management Consultant We are looking for an experienced
SAP IS-Utilities (IS-U) Device Management Consultant with strong functional expertise supporting
Electricity and Gas utilities for a 2-3yr engagement in New York.
Consultant should expect to travel min of 25% Experience & Qualifications- Minimum 8 10 years of SAP IS-Utilities experience, with significant hands-on experience in Device Management (DM).
- Strong functional knowledge of Electricity and Gas utility business processes.
- Experience working on SAP IS-U implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and production support.
- Ability to work directly with utility business stakeholders, understand requirements, perform fit-gap analysis, and translate requirements into SAP solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support SAP IS-U Device Management processes for Electricity and Gas.
- Strong knowledge of the complete device lifecycle, including:
- Device procurement and technical master data
- Device installation, removal, replacement, and exchange
- Device modification and inspection
- Meter and device allocation
- Device location and connection object integration
- Meter reading-related device processes
- Device certification and periodic replacement processes
- Configure and support device categories, device types, equipment, registers, register groups, and device configurations.
- Support different metering scenarios including single-rate, multi-rate, interval, smart meter, and advanced metering environments.
- Strong understanding of electricity meters, gas meters, registers, measurement concepts, and units of measure.
- Understand integration between Device Management and other SAP IS-U areas including Meter Reading, Billing, Customer Service, Technical Master Data, and FI-CA.
- Experience with AMI/Smart Meter integration and Meter Data Management systems is highly desirable.
- Support integration/interfaces between SAP IS-U and external systems such as MDM/MDMS, AMI, GIS, and field service/work management systems.
- Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and provide functional solutions.
- Prepare functional specifications and work closely with ABAP and integration teams on enhancements and interfaces.
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and support UAT.
- Support data migration and conversion activities related to devices, meters, registers, and technical master data.
- Participate in Fit-to-Standard/Fit-Gap workshops, solution design sessions, and business process discussions.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to junior functional team members.
Preferred Skills Experience with
SAP S/4HANA Utilities and utility transformation programs is preferred. Knowledge of
SAP Utilities Core, AMI/MDMS solutions, and modern smart-metering architecture would be an advantage.
The candidate should have strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills and be comfortable interacting directly with business, IT, architecture, development, and integration teams.
