We are looking for an experienced Test Hardware Development Engineer to help architect innovative test infrastructure to improve and optimize Amazon Leo"s satellite level test systems . Our team is responsible for core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone for automated satellite testing operations.

In this role, you will bridge hardware and systems engineering with hands-on lab and test development capabilities. You will lead the design, build, and deployment of test hardware across Amazon Leo"s vehicle integration venues, contribute to infrastructure planning, and directly support ground systems involving RF, networking, mechanical interfaces, and electrical systems. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in electrical engineering, is comfortable in hands-on lab environments, and can work across teams to scale test operations in a fast-paced development and production settings.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement test rack and bench-top hardware platforms to support satellite integration and test
  • Lead interdisciplinary technical efforts spanning RF, networking, mechanical integration, and test equipment automation
  • Develop, maintain, coordinate electrical ground support & test equipment (i.e. EGSE, etc) for integrated vehicle testing
  • Integrate RF instrumentation, power distribution systems, sensors, and embedded components into test infrastructure
  • Write and execute test procedures, verification plans, and commissioning documentation
  • Collaborate with software and test automation teams to integrate scripting and telemetry into lab infrastructure
  • Support routine validation of satellite systems during development and production campaigns
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians on lab processes and best practices
  • Support and maintain lab infrastructure, including: Ubuntu/Windows systems, Cisco networking equipment and networking automation infrastructure, ethernet/fiber/coax wiring.

The Integrated Vehicle Test team is responsible for delivering functional spacecraft to orbit to ensure Amazon Leo"s mission success. We do so through development of advanced test systems and execution of test campaigns that help guarantee reliable operation of satellite vehicles in space. The tasks and daily focus change rapidly, and you will often take on exciting new responsibilities to ensure project success. Expect to be deployed to address complex problems by identifying the scope of the issue and quickly establishing innovative and functional solutions.
