Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Saw Operator for a night-shift manufacturing opportunity in Claremore. This position is responsible for setting up and operating industrial saws to cut metal and other materials to specified lengths, angles, and dimensions while maintaining established quality and production standards.
The ideal candidate has previous experience operating band saws, cut-off saws, circular saws, or similar industrial cutting equipment and can confidently work from measurements, work orders, and basic blueprints.
Strong measurement skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail are important for success in this position.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous industrial saw experience preferred
Manufacturing or fabrication experience preferred
Ability to operate band saws, cut-off saws, or similar equipment
Ability to read basic blueprints and drawings
Ability to follow work orders and cutting specifications
Strong tape-measure skills
Ability to work accurately with fractions and decimals
Basic shop math skills
Understanding of material dimensions and tolerances
Mechanical aptitude
Strong attention to detail and cut quality
Ability to maintain consistent production output
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Strong commitment to workplace and machine safety
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate industrial saw equipment
Operate band saws and cut-off saws
Process materials to specified lengths and angles
Review work orders before beginning production
Read and interpret basic blueprints and drawings
Measure and mark materials before cutting
Select appropriate saw blades according to job requirements
Adjust machine speeds and settings
Position material supports as required
Verify materials before processing
Monitor cutting operations for accuracy
Inspect completed cuts for quality
Verify finished dimensions using precision measuring tools
Perform basic saw maintenance
Change blades when required
Lubricate and clean equipment
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Document completed work as required
Communicate material, tooling, or equipment concerns to supervisors
Work with team members to meet production schedules
Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures
Perform additional production duties as assigned
Saw Setup & Operation
Candidates may regularly work with:
Band saws
Cut-off saws
Circular saws
Other industrial cutting equipment
Saw blades
Material supports
Cutting guides
Metal stock and fabricated materials
Setup responsibilities may include:
Selecting appropriate blades
Adjusting cutting speeds
Setting material supports
Positioning materials
Setting required lengths or angles
Verifying setup before beginning production
Measurement & Shop Math
Strong measurement skills are important for this position.
Candidates should be comfortable using:
Tape measures
Squares
Calipers
Other applicable measuring tools
Candidates must also be able to:
Work with fractions
Work with decimals
Apply basic shop math
Understand material tolerances
Verify dimensions before and after cutting
Identify measurements that fall outside required specifications
Blueprint & Work Order Responsibilities
Read basic fabrication blueprints
Review work orders
Follow drawings and work instructions
Identify required materials
Determine cutting dimensions
Identify required lengths and angles
Verify applicable tolerances
Communicate unclear specifications before cutting materials
Material Inspection
Inspect raw materials before cutting
Verify correct material is being processed
Identify visible defects or damage
Inspect completed cuts
Verify dimensions and angles
Identify quality concerns
Prevent incorrectly cut materials from advancing through production
Machine Maintenance
Candidates may perform routine saw maintenance, including:
Blade changes
Equipment cleaning
Lubrication
Chip and debris removal
Basic equipment inspections
Identifying worn or damaged components
Reporting mechanical concerns promptly
Quality Responsibilities
Maintain dimensional accuracy
Inspect completed cuts
Verify materials meet applicable specifications
Identify incorrectly processed materials
Maintain attention to quality during repetitive production
Follow established tolerances
Communicate recurring material or equipment concerns
Help prevent unnecessary scrap and rework

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
Ability to safely handle and position materials
Manual dexterity required for machine setup and measurement
Comfortable performing repetitive manufacturing work
Ability to safely work around industrial saws, metal materials, and production equipment
Ability to lift and move materials within safe and reasonable job requirements
Ability to wear all required PPE
Work Environment
Industrial manufacturing and fabrication environment
Regular work around metal materials, industrial saws, cutting tools, and production equipment
Hands-on position involving machine setup, cutting, measurement, inspection, and material handling
Consistent 5:00 PM 3:30 AM night-shift schedule
