SBA Underwriter I

Overview

This position is responsible for underwriting SBA 7a, SBA 504 and USDA loans in a specialized industry vertical. The candidate will gather financial/borrower information, analyze complex financial and credit information, underwrite loan requests, recommend credit actions, prepare credit memorandums and coordinates activity in support of the credit process.

What You'll Do

• Underwriting SBA loans in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures
• Analyze complex financial information utilizing Moody's Analytics software.
• Facilitate ordering and receiving all third party credit related reports that include but are not limited to: appraisals, environmental, credit bureaus, OFAC
• Delivering excellent service to customers both inside and outside the Bank
• Providing frequent communication to all parties involved in transactions in a positive and constructive manner
• Effectively managing the process to ensure loan requests are being reviewed efficiently, that customers receive timely answers, and that approved transactions are completed quickly and accurately
• Providing guidance and training to team members involved in processing and funding of loans
• Ensuring all loans comply with regulatory requirements
• Maintaining knowledge of company underwriting and lending guidelines and provide input to guidelines when requested
• Maintains and applies a thorough understanding of the bank''s credit policy, SBA eligibility and all necessary business practices to ensure the submission of accurate and complete loan application packages
• Reviewing and signing off all underwriting conditions in a timely manner
• Ensuring proper pre-funding quality control steps are taken on all loans
• Responsible for adhering to and complying with all Bank policies and Federal and State banking laws and regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements For Success

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor''s degree preferred
• Minimum of 1 year of SBA 7a and 504 loan underwriting experience; 5+ years preferred
• Thorough knowledge of SBA lending rules, regulations and practices
• Formal credit training is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and written skills
• Ability to underwrite and handle a large volume of loans
• Administrative/Technical Skills
• Verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Knowledge of Word and Excel
• Participate and complete all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs, online training, meetings, and seminars/conferences, etc.

POSITION TYPE: This is a full-time position

TRAVEL: This position encourages up to 5% travel.

Pay Range

USD $76,958.00 - USD $82,019.00 /Yr.
