The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) is a critical national security program within the Department of Homeland Security. Housed within ICE, Homeland Security Investigations' National Security Division, SEVP oversees the F and M nonimmigrant classes and, with the Department of State, the J exchange visitor class: more than one million international students and exchange visitors, plus the schools and sponsors that host them. Its system of record, SEVIS, is designated an ICE high-value asset. Dynamis is seeking a SBAS Technical Writer/Editor to make sure every document that carries that mission is accurate, consistent, and decision-ready, building the Word and PowerPoint templates and editing the deliverables SEVP sends to ICE, DHS, and partner agencies. This role will turn complex program information into clear, plain-language, Section 508-compliant products that leaders can trust.
Responsibilities:
Design and maintain Word templates with standardized styles that enforce strict formatting across SBAS documents, and standardized PowerPoint presentation templates.
Write and edit technical documents, including reports, user guidance, briefings, presentations, functional descriptions, guidelines, and special reports, to meet contract requirements.
Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by SBAS leads and federal staff, ensuring final documents meet applicable regulations and standards.
Research and gather technical and background information from project staff, technical documents, and library resources, and verify the guidelines and regulations governing each deliverable.
Write in plain, simplified language, produce Section 508-compliant material, and support SOP, article, and template updates on PWS timelines.
Requirements:
Minimum 6 years of related experience; a bachelor's degree in business or project management may substitute for up to 3 years.
Specialized experience creating Word templates with standardized styles that enforce strict formatting, and creating standardized PowerPoint presentation templates.
Experience writing and editing technical documents, reports, briefings, and project deliverables, including outlines and drafts for review by technical specialists and management.
Demonstrated ability to write in simplified, plain language.
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a favorable ICE background investigation (Entry on Duty).
Experience using Confluence and requirements management software such as JIRA, MS Team Foundation Server, or Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with DHS/ICE documentation standards and SEVP policy or regulatory products.
Bachelor's degree in communications, English, business, or a related field.
