    Department Small Business Development Center Job Purpose

    This position will provide individual consulting and training to current and prospective business owners. The SBDC (Small Business Development Center) Business Consultant will work with communities, organizations, and other agencies to disseminate general business information.

    Essential Duties

    • Provides high quality business consulting services to clients in the Scranton SBDC's service area across full spectrum of business functions by performing analyses, making recommendations, and educating clients about small business strategies
    • Works collaboratively with a variety of internal and external constituents including internal departments of the University; community and economic development and resource agencies; the PASBDC; and the general public
    • Facilitates meetings, develops and delivers training programs to small and large audiences, leads group discussions and planning sessions
    • Travels regularly throughout the SBDC's eight-county service area, including frequent day travel to regional locations; works occasional evenings; and participates in periodic overnight travel and weekend events as needed
    • Meets all deliverables as determined by Director, including those required to maintain funding, grant, and contractual compliance
    • Follows all online and other reporting requirements established by the Center

    Minimum Education Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree required in Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, or Computer related field

    Preferred Education

    • Masters Degree is preferred

    Minimum Job Experience Requirements

    • Three (3) years of experience in entrepreneurship, small business, accounting, finance or computer related field
    • In-depth knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business, accounting, marketing, human resource management, and financial analysis

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Small Business ownership/experience is preferred

    Years of Experience 3 University Classification Professional FLSA Classification Exempt Schedule/Work Hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours/days as required. Full Time/Part Time Full-Time Annual Schedule 12
