Advertised Job Summary

The SC Rural Access to Justice Special Paralegal, under the limited supervision of the Faculty Director and Assistant Director of the Carolina Health Advocacy Medicolegal Partnership (CHAMPS), will establish intake procedures for client counseling sites in rural areas with significant unmet civil legal services needs. In addition to providing client direct representation in CHAMPS's core practice areas of housing conditions, education, income stability and public benefits matters, the Fellow will engage in broader activities such as advice and counsel and community legal education. Throughout this two-year fellowship, the SCRAJ Fellow will collaborate with Clinic staff and students in person and remotely to reach underserved rural communities and deliver excellent legal services.

Qualifications

  • J.D. degree or J. D. degree candidate with at least one year clinical experience during the candidate's law school term.
