Job Summary: The SCADA Engineer I supports the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise SCADA solutions used to monitor and control industrial manufacturing processes. This role works under close supervision to assist with SCADA system configuration, HMI development, and basic system integration activities. The Engineer contributes to reliable monitoring and control of production processes by supporting data management, troubleshooting, and testing efforts. This position impacts their own work and immediate team while building foundational technical skills in SCADA systems, PLC integration, and industrial networking. The SCADA Engineer I collaborates primarily within their team and follows established procedures to support operational and project objectives. Essential Duties: Functional Operations: Apply basic engineering principles to support SCADA development and system integration tasks Assist in the development and modification of SCADA/HMI screens for process monitoring and control Support integration of PLCs and IIoT devices with SCADA systems under guidance Assist with installation, configuration, and commissioning of SCADA-related components Perform basic database tasks including tag creation, updates, and data validation Support troubleshooting efforts and help document and resolve system issues Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Work on clearly defined SCADA-related tasks under supervision Apply existing tools, standards, and processes to support system performance Assist with system testing, validation, and debugging activities Help maintain documentation, including work instructions and system standards Training & Team Support: Learn SCADA platforms, tools, and processes from mentors and senior engineers Participate in knowledge-sharing and training activities Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication: Communicate within immediate team and escalate issues as needed Follow established procedures to support coordination with cross-functional teams Assist in gathering requirements and documenting basic system needs Quality, Safety, & Compliance: Follow established processes and procedures to support compliance with industry and company standards Participate in system testing and validation to ensure reliability and accuracy Assist in maintaining system reliability, safety, and operational availability Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements: To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Qualifications Requirements - Required and/or Preferred Education, Certifications, and Licenses: Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field Relevant work experience may be substituted for required education Preferred: Exposure to SCADA systems, PLCs, or industrial automation through coursework, internships, or projects Progress toward industry certifications (e.g., Inductive Automation, ISA CAP fundamentals) Essential Qualifications: Foundational knowledge of industrial automation systems, including SCADA architecture, PLC fundamentals, and control systems concepts Basic familiarity with SCADA systems, HMIs, PLCs, and industrial networking concepts Exposure to programming or scripting (e.g., Python, Java, or similar) Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP) Ability to follow technical instructions, standards, and established engineering procedures Strong problem-solving aptitude with attention to detail and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and analysis Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English Alignment to Panasonic's seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude) Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of hands-on experience with industrial automation technologies (e.g., SCADA platforms such as Ignition, PLC programming, or HMI development) through internships, co-ops, academic projects, or entry-level roles in manufacturing environments Experience or exposure to high-volume manufacturing or industrial environments such as battery, automotive, electronics, or energy sectors Familiarity with databases (SQL) or basic data analysis concepts Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git) or basic DevOps practices Completion of or progress toward SCADA/automation-related training (e.g., Inductive University, ISA coursework) Physical Demands: Physical Activities: Percentage of time (equaling 100%) during the normal workday the employee is required to: Sit: 20% Walk: 60% Stand: 20% Required Lifting and Carrying: Rare (
