Our client is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Scale Hand to join our quarry operations team. This individual will be responsible for operating the truck scale, accurately processing inbound and outbound loads, and ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly using Fast-Weigh software. The ideal candidate has prior experience in an aggregate, asphalt, concrete, or construction materials environment and understands the fast-paced nature of quarry operations.
Operate truck scale for all inbound and outbound materials
Accurately enter load data into Fast-Weigh software
Generate weight tickets, invoices, and haul tickets
Verify customer accounts, pricing, and material types
Coordinate with dispatch, plant operators, truck drivers, and management
Maintain accurate daily production and sales reports
Answer phone calls and assist customers with order information
Balance daily scale transactions and cash/credit receipts (if applicable)
Ensure compliance with company policies and safety procedures
Maintain a clean and organized scale house
1+ year experience as a scale operator, scale clerk, or similar role (quarry/aggregate experience preferred)
Experience using Fast-Weigh or similar scale management software strongly preferred
Strong data entry and basic accounting skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
High school diploma or GED required
Background in aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix, or construction materials
Familiarity with DOT regulations and trucking logistics
Understanding of quarry operations and material types
Primarily based in scale house office at active rock quarry
Frequent communication with truck drivers and plant personnel
May require early mornings, extended hours, and occasional Saturdays
