Overview
Quality Control Technician checks digital image quality, accuracy, and consistency to ensure that the products match the specifications outlined in the project plan. For this digitization project, where paper records are handed over to the customer after scanning, the quality control process is particularly important. Quality Control Technician shall, at the beginning of the project, set quality control standards and share widely and must remain consistent throughout. Quality Control Technician is responsible for processing the documentation they receive for verification. This position enters the relevant web-based computer program/ or hard disk drive documents and data. This is completed when confidential information is scanned, indexed and submitted electronically, as well as incoming and outgoing mail is managed. Design, develop, establish and implement checklists for quality control and submit for approval to the project manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Quality Control Technician will apply extensive knowledge to quality control and scanning teams will scan and validate the digitized end-of-work products on a daily basis.
- Quality Control Technician will be required to work on assignments requiring judgment with minimal supervision and work.
- The QC Technician is responsible for notifying leaders when there are service levels or contractual issues with meeting timelines and accuracy while conducting quality assurance review.
- It is also the responsibility of Quality Control Technician to review all daily production while ensuring that daily logs are accurate and timely for the project manager.
- Quality Control Technician leads the day-to-day production work and interfaces on operational improvements with the project manager and the production / operations scanning team.
- The QC process can be affected by a number of factors including viewing conditions, monitoring calibration, and color management. Thus, view scanned documents during the QC process on a monitor and as print outs. Ensure both ways for the documents to be legible.
- Determine if QC and any copies, printouts, metadata and/or OCR'ed (Optical Character Recognition) files will be performed on the master files
Perform Secondary Quality Control as follows:
- Image Quality
- Do moiré patterns exist?
- Are digital artifacts present? (Wavy lines or swirls, usually found in areas where repeated patterns exist)
- Is the picture too light or too dark? (Such as very regular, straight lines across the picture)
- Are the details lost in shadows or highlights?
- Does the picture contain clean edges, clear contrast and readable text?
- Are single pixels visible to the naked eye?
- File Properties
- Is the image the correct size/resolution in long dimension?
- Is the depth of bit correct?
- Is the OCR error-free?
- Are all files and pages accounted for?
- If any items were skipped between scanning
Minimum Required Skills/Experience:
- Basic knowledge of the quality control and quality assurance methods, and acumen to develop the required administrative skills of the job.
- Specific level of software skills as required by the work unit.
- Possess strong attention detail and problem-solving skills.
Education and Qualifications Desired:
- Diploma or equivalent.
- To adequately perform the duties of the job individuals must possess a minimum of 2 years to 3-years of general administrative experience, or equivalent college level education.
