Aplin has partnered with an award-winning construction company to recruit a Schedule Risk Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced construction professional to play a strategic role in supporting complex projects and resolving major schedule-related issues across North America.

Working closely with project teams, legal counsel, and senior leadership, you will provide expert guidance on schedule risk, claims, dispute resolution, and project controls while helping establish best practices and scheduling standards across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support to ensure successful execution of project planning and scheduling initiatives, aligning with corporate objectives.
  • Support high-risk project pursuits and project startup activities to identify and mitigate schedule-related risks.
  • Assist in resolving major schedule-related issues by working closely with internal and external legal counsel, external consultants, project teams, and operational leadership on time-related claims and disputes.
  • Collaborate with legal and commercial risk teams to allocate scheduling resources and support dispute resolution strategies.
  • Work with project teams to administer complex construction contracts, including alternative delivery models, ensuring compliance with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Review bid documents to identify project risks and opportunities and provide recommendations to project teams.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standardized schedule risk assessment processes across the business.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of scheduling, monitoring, and reporting systems to enhance project performance and reporting.
  • Educate project teams on contractual scheduling requirements and conduct schedule audits to ensure compliance.
  • Coach project teams on schedule management and change management best practices.
  • Contribute to the development and communication of company scheduling standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Travel throughout North America (approximately 25%) to support project and business needs
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in the construction industry across a variety of project delivery methods.
  • Minimum 5 years of project management and leadership experience.
  • Postsecondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling methodologies, and project controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with contract administration, schedule delay analysis, claims management, and dispute resolution.
  • Proven ability to identify project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, methods, and procedures.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout North America (approximately 25%).
Requirements
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada without current or future employer sponsorship. Candidates must also be eligible to travel to the United States for short-term business assignments without requiring employer sponsorship or visa support.
