SCHEDULE: MONDAY-FRIDAY 0800-1630

JOB SUMMARY:  He/She will ensure the performance of efficient, quality management procedures to promote a well-functioning office. Responsibilities will include scheduling of home health therapy visits, clerical and computer tasks, filing, planning, and organizing the work of the clerical staff and promotion of appropriate and efficient office communication. Responsible for coordinating maintenance and upkeep of Comfort House including equipment and grounds through Plant Operations staff. Works in close cooperation with the Director of Home Health and Hospice to carry out functions of the agency.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
  • A minimum of 2 years of prior work experience in office management in hospital, clinic, or other medical environment.
  • Completion of the Hospice of Pella Volunteer Training Course within 1 year of hire date.
  • Participation in ongoing staff education and orientation as necessary.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnostic codes, and advanced computer skills.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of hospice philosophy.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communications with co-workers, patients/families, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with hospice patients and/or their family members.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of the Hospice and Home Health philosophy of care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Supportive, sensitive approach to patient/family and volunteer needs.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and professionalism. Positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and to organize his/her time and tasks.
  • Ability to organize, supervise and assess office needs.
