As the OR scheduler/Med Office Specialist at our facility, you will be responsible for the inputting of surgical cases from Surgeon offices and create the surgery schedule utilizing system policies. Provides customer friendly atmosphere to physician offices during telephone conversations and coordination of the surgery schedule. Our team has a passion for creating positive patient interactions and is dedicated to caring for the multi-faceted wellness of those we serve.
In this role:
You will represent our hospital teams by interacting in a professional manner while coordinating surgery scheduled with physician offices.
You will communicate inpatient admit numbers to the Patient Access Coordinator.
You will coordinate anesthesia assignments between the OR, SMOPS, Endoscopy, Cath Lab, and other offices.
You will coordinate with radiology for rad techs and c-arm coverage.
You will correctly link the appropriate preference card(s) to the scheduled procedure.
You will demonstrate accountability and problem solving skills.
You will enter data accurately in CPCS system.
You will formulate daily surgery schedule according to the rules of scheduling policy.
You will foster positive relationships with staff, physicians, surgeons and offices.
You will inform management of potential problems with patient, procedure, or surgeon equipment conflicts.
You will maintain schedule to ensure proper and adequate anesthesia, nursing staff and equipment can be provided.
You will notify the appropriate departments and personnel of schedule changes, additions and cancellations.
You will provide printed schedules to appropriate parties at designated times.
You will verify that "inpatient only" cases are appropriately scheduled.
You will work with vendors for acquisition of special equipment, implants and supplies for procedures by request.
One year computer skills and medical terminology preferred
Background in medical terminology and surgical procedures
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Previous OR experience strongly desired
