Scheduler - Patient Access

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Patient Access/Central Scheduling Manager, the Scheduler is responsible and accountable for working hand in hand with both affiliated and non-affiliated physicians offices as well as other hospital departments to schedule patients for all types of outpatient procedures/testing. The scheduling of appointments may occur as the result of all of the following: electronic orders received, faxed orders received and phone call orders received. For any appointment scheduled by phone call, the scheduler is responsible for notifying the ordering provider when the ordered test fails medical necessity and may result in patient financial liability. The scheduler functions as a liaison between physicians offices and other departments of the hospital to ensure excellence in care is maintained throughout the continuum of care. Required to work with the Director/Manager regularly to carryout, initiate and/or implement best practices for the Baxter Health Patient Access Department. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Diploma or GED Experience: 12 to 18 months related healthcare and/or customer service. Certifications: N/A Other: Preferred applicant will have a working knowledge of medical terminology, ICD 10, CPT and HCPCS coding basics. Adaptability to multiple systems is essential. Flexible work schedule, 5 days a week, Monday Friday, 8-hour shifts.
