Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Scheduler/Planner – Cleaning & Component Refurbishment Laboratoryto join our team at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida supporting the Laboratory Support Services and Operations (LASSO) II contract.

 

The ideal candidate is a highly organized and technically minded Scheduler/Planner responsible for coordinating, prioritizing, and documenting the workflow of the Component Cleaning & Refurbishment (CCR) Laboratory, which supports multiple NASA programs. The CCR Lab performs critical functions such as chemical cleaning, surface treatment, refurbishment of aerospace components, clean‑room operations, hydraulic and pneumatic functional testing, and is compliant with AS9100 requirements. This role ensures that all CCR Lab activities are planned, scheduled, resourced, tracked, and documented to support precision cleaning, component refurbishment, test operations, and customer needs in a high‑reliability aerospace environment.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS: 

  • High School Diploma
  • Two or more years of experience in maintenance planning, production scheduling, laboratory support, or aerospace operations.
  • Knowledge of maintenance or operational work control, technical documentation, and parts/materials coordination.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems or work control systems to plan and track technical work.
  • Understanding of quality systems such as AS9100 and laboratory operational requirements.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS: 

  • Experience working in labs handling aerospace hardware, cleaning processes, or refurbishment operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to support technicians, engineers, and quality personnel.
  • Ability to support cleanroom operations and the scheduling complexities associated with controlled environments.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and execute written and verbal technical instructions.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the CCR Lab’s daily, weekly, and long‑range schedules for cleaning, refurbishment, passivation, functional testing, and certification tasks.
  • Act as the central point of coordination between technicians, engineers, quality teams, and customers to ensure transparency of job status.
  • Participate in planning meetings to understand priorities, and communicate workload, resource constraints, and schedule.
  • Review incoming work requests and define job scopes, dependencies, and required resources (labor, equipment, cleanroom access, materials).
  • Generate and distribute work control documents, work orders, and job packages aligned with AS9100-compliant processes.
  • Track progress of all active jobs, update schedules, and communicate delays, impacts, and priority changes to customers and leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of schedules, completed work, and resource utilization in accordance with AS9100.
  • Support internal and external audits related to CCR operations, work control, and quality systems.
