SUMMARY:
All staff positions at SCHC support patient-centered, team-based, and trauma-sensitive health care. The Scheduling Coordinator is a dual-function role that provides centralized scheduling support for Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health services while also serving as a clinic Receptionist to ensure seamless patient access.
This position is responsible for coordinating patient schedules across departments, accurately scheduling patients according to established templates and workflows, and maintaining complete and accurate patient registration and insurance information within the electronic health record. The Scheduling Coordinator works closely with clinical, behavioral health, dental, finance, and patient services staff to support efficient clinic operations, high-quality patient care, and a positive patient experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Scheduling and Resource Coordination
Coordinate and manage patient scheduling for Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health services, ensuring schedules accurately reflect provider availability and approved templates.
Schedule a variety of appointment types, including but not limited to:
Medical: routine office visits, procedures, and same-day access
Dental: dentist and hygiene appointments
Behavioral Health: individual appointments, SUD assessments, group therapy, and school-based behavioral health services
Provide scheduling support for clinic-wide events such as men's clinics, back-to-school well child checks, and similar initiatives.
Coordinate scheduling with visiting specialty providers and external specialty offices.
Respond to emergency schedule changes, including late arrivals, closures, and provider call-outs.
Perform routine schedule audits to ensure compliance with established workflows and policies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Required: HS diploma/GED; three years of relevant work experience in a medical field, with at least one year of experience in a specialty area. Clinical administrative work, including knowledge of medical terminology, is preferred. Equivalent education and/or experience may be considered.
GENERAL:
To ensure the health and safety of our community, patients, and staff, SCHC requires proof of completed vaccination series or serologic test results for MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella), Varicella (Chickenpox), Tdap, and Hepatitis B, as well as TB screening, prior to employment.
