Under the supervision of the Director of Student Fiscal Affairs, the Financial Aid and Scholarship Manager will assist and support the Office of Student Fiscal Affairs with the administration of Institutional and private scholarship funding. The individual will assume a level of responsibility to ensure the office complies with federal, state, institutional, and scholarship regulations in the administration of all financial aid programs and services. Service as primary contact and coordinator for all Institutional and external scholarships. Award and disburse funds, track, and monitor student eligibility. The Financial Aid and Scholarship Manager will also aid in the modification and documentation of electronic workflows/business processes for the Financial Aid Banner System. This includes, but is not limited to, system testing, developing, and updating queries, data groups, and tables.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and three years of relevant experience in student financial aid related to financial aid counseling, eligibility determination, need analysis, verification, and packaging requirements

Experience with ERP systems in processing financial aid

Must be able to obtain approval for access to the U.S. DOE Financial Aid websites

Preferred Qualifications

Student financial aid counseling experience preferred, as well as knowledge of personal computers.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Excellent communication skills, customer service, and organizational skills
  • Compiles and analyzes data, maintains monthly statistical data reports for all scholarships
  • Provides financial aid advising services to prospective and current students, and parents, \ covering all aspects of the financial aid process.
  • Responsible for handling sensitive and confidential financial data for students and parents
  • Provide customer service, communication, and manage data for all scholarship awards
  • Responsible for formulating both individualized correspondence and form letters in response

to students' inquiries regarding all aspects of the scholarship and financial aid process

  • Interacts with various departments to provide scholarship and financial aid information

about award processing issues.

  • Serve as back-up or transmitting student loan data to various lenders/DOE, and provide

electronic receipt and return of loan data and funds

  • Review the accuracy of financial aid data and verify information with supporting documents

  • Assist with Direct Loan processing (check and validate accuracy of federal and private loans

certification/ processing/ payments)

  • Reviews financial aid and packaging awards, and updates student accounts with

scholarship awards and tracking data.

  • Assist in coordinating, awarding, and processing of federal, state, institutional, and external

student aid programs, including grants, scholarships, and loans

  • Assist in the implementation of the SAPP financial aid and academic process electronic

process

  • Troubleshoot/correct missing information
  • Assist in the resolution of any direct loan and/or private aid issues (i.e., ISIR records, MPN,

entrance/exit counseling)

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director
  • Monitor enrollment during drop/add periods and adjust budgets and financial aid awards

accordingly to avoid overawards.

  • Serves as primary contact for processing external scholarship checks and awards.
  • Works closely with Institutional Advancement to apply scholarship funds based on each

donor's terms and conditions.

  • Educate scholarship recipients on the financial aid process, policies, and procedures that may

result in adverse decisions should they not meet scholarship requirements.

  • Responsible for the decision-making process (in conjunction with the Director) that requires

initiative and judgment related to financial aid and scholarship processing.

  • Assist in Staff training.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to interpret federal and state financial aid rules and regulations
  • Ability to research regulatory information and resolve complex financial questions
  • Must be able to process information with a high level of accuracy and prioritize job duties

It is MSM's Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are encouraged to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate's offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
