School Age Childcare Assistant Director (Jefferson Community Center)

Starting Pay - $34.00 Hourly

Full range - $34.00 - $42.50 (Employee may earn up to $42.50/hr with continued employment.)

If you have experience working with groups of school-age children and have a passion for youth development, Associated Recreation Council (ARC) has a role for you as a School Age Childcare Assistant Director at Jefferson Community Center. This is a full-time, year-round role with competitive pay and benefits. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with strong leadership and organizational skills who is passionate about creating a positive, enriching environment for children ages 5-12. The Assistant Director will support the overall operation of the program, assist in supervising staff, and play a key role in developing and leading activities that engage and inspire.

ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering access to licensed childcare and a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes, and activities. In this role, the School Age Childcare Assistant Director will support the planning, organization, and daily operations of the school-age childcare program. The Assistant Director will help lead engaging activities, support staff, maintain licensing requirements, and foster a safe, fun, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all children and families.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday up to 35 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours during the summer. The typical schedule will vary based on program needs, including before-school care, after-school care, school breaks, planning time, trainings, and team meetings.

SAC Assistant Director Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor program staff, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for children and staff
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing developmentally appropriate activities and curriculum
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, staff, and community partners
  • Help manage scheduling, supplies, and administrative tasks as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, safety guidelines, and organizational policies
  • Provide leadership and day-to-day support to staff and participants in the absence or support of the Director

SAC Assistant Director Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a minimum of 35 college credits
  • Experience working in youth development, childcare, education, or a related field
  • Minimum of one-year of supervisory experience
