GENERAL FUNCTION:
The School Age Enrichment Leader is a vital member of a team of people with the goal of providing excellent care for school aged children (K-5th grade) during out of school hours, holidays, and camp days. Under the guidance of the Site Director, he/she will be responsible for direct supervision of children, implementation of planned daily activities, and maintenance of all aspects of the program environment. He/she will make every effort to develop and foster a positive relationship with the children, their parents, school personnel, and community members. Hours are Monday-Friday 2:15pm-6:30pm; full time shift during days when CCPS schools are closed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Be familiar with YMCA mission, policies, and procedures.
2. Implement components of the Program as directed by supervisor.
3. Keep the supervisor informed of all program issues as they arise, especially when related to the children’s behavior and development.
4. Assist with Program procedures for opening and/or closing each day.
5. Take overall responsibility for an assigned group of children under the direction of the supervisor.
6. Maintain accurate daily attendance records at all times.
7. Always monitor and ensure the safety of children.
8. Become familiar with school facilities and staff, school expectations, and ensure same expectations are always being followed with children.
9. Report all problems, incidents, and accidents to supervisor as they occur.
10. Complete written incident and accident reports as necessary with assistance of Supervisor, according to YMCA policies and procedures.
11. Nurture children by designing lesson plans that include purposeful programming that develops social-emotional skills, fosters achievement, supports academic growth and provides enrichment.
12. Maintain and preserve all Program equipment and supplies.
13. Empower students to make positive choices and encourage them to serve as role models amongst their peers.
14. Promote a positive relationship with parents by making a point of greeting them daily, sharing good news about their children with them, and informing them of any relevant information in a timely manner.
15. Be an enthusiastic, dedicated, reliable and committed leader of our team.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must obtain state mandated training of 45 hours with competency exam completed within 90 days of hire.
2. Certification in Infant, Child and Adult CPR, and Basic First Aid (preferred)
3. 18 Years or older
4. Must have own transportation.
5. Must be available to work full day shifts on days when Collier County Public Schools are closed.
6. Must be able to stand, remain outdoors and maintain continual physical endurance for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds, watch, listen and facilitate group activities.
7. Must be mentally alert and be able to process and follow directions.
8. Must be able to speak, read, and write fluently in the English language.
