Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an Assistive Technology Specialist to join our dynamic team at E-Therapy. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing students' technology needs, recommending appropriate assistive technology tools and devices, and providing training and support to students, teachers, and families.



Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments of students' functional abilities, learning styles, and technology needs to determine appropriate assistive technology solutions.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, therapists, and other members of the educational team to integrate assistive technology tools and strategies into students' educational plans.
  • Recommend and implement assistive technology devices, software programs, apps, and other supports to enhance students' access to the curriculum and promote independence and inclusion.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to students, teachers, and families on the use of assistive technology tools and accommodations.
  • Develop and deliver professional development workshops and training sessions on assistive technology best practices and strategies for supporting students with disabilities.
  • Stay updated on advances in assistive technology tools, software, and devices, and provide recommendations for new technologies to support student learning and engagement.
  • Collaborate with vendors, technology specialists, and community resources to explore and acquire assistive technology resources for students and schools.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of assistive technology assessments, recommendations, and training sessions.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Technology, Rehabilitation Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification as an Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) or Assistive Technology Specialist (ATS) preferred but not required.
  • Previous experience working with students with disabilities and knowledge of assistive technology tools and strategies.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices related to assistive technology and accessibility.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, school staff, and related service providers.
  • Proficiency in assessment, documentation, and record-keeping.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move around in various areas of the school facility. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents both verbally and in writing.
