Requirements:
- N.J. School Athletic Trainer certificate
- Licensed by the N.J. State Board of Medical Examiners as an Athletic Trainer
- N.A.T.A. certification
- CPR/AED and First Aid Certification (current).
- Prior experience working with high school or youth athletes strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site injury evaluation, emergency care, and injury management at practices and games.
- Design and implement injury prevention programs and individualized rehabilitation plans.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatment logs, and communication with physicians, coaches, and parents.
- Coordinate medical clearance, impact testing, and concussion protocol compliance.
- Monitor environmental and facility conditions to ensure safety standards are met.
- Assist with pre-participation physicals and documentation tracking.
- Collaborate with coaches and the Athletic Director regarding practice/game schedules and athlete status.
- Maintain inventory of athletic training supplies and manage budget as needed.
- Supervise student athletic training aides or interns, if applicable.
- Hours vary based on athletic schedules; evening and weekend availability is required.
- Develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans for all athletic venues.
- Communicate clearly with EMS, school nurses, physicians, parents/guardians, coaches, and administrators.
- Ensure compliance with district, NJSIAA, state, and federal health/safety guidelines.
- Provide athletic training coverage for home contests, practices, and select away/postseason events as assigned.
- Educate coaches and student-athletes on injury prevention, hydration, heat illness, concussion awareness, and return-to-play procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of student medical information.
- Support return-to-play decisions in collaboration with physicians and school administration.
